Neuromodulation Center

Neuromodulation Center

At our Neuromodulation Center, we help people whose neurological and movement disorders are no longer controlled by medication to regain movement, comfort and independence. Using Deep Brain Stimulation — one of the most established and adjustable neuromodulation therapies — our multidisciplinary team designs care around each patient, from the first assessment through surgery, programming and lifelong follow-up.

What Is Deep Brain Stimulation?

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is an advanced, adjustable neuromodulation therapy. Fine electrodes are placed in precisely targeted areas of the brain and connected to a small implanted pulse generator that delivers gentle, continuous electrical stimulation to regulate the activity behind movement and neurological symptoms. It is carried out as a two-stage procedure — stereotactic electrode placement followed by implantation of the pulse generator — and, unlike many treatments, its stimulation can be programmed, fine-tuned and reversed as a patient's needs change.

Conditions We Treat

  • Parkinson's disease — easing tremor, rigidity, slowness and motor fluctuations when medication no longer gives steady control
  • Essential tremor — controlling severe tremor that interferes with everyday tasks
  • Dystonia — relieving sustained muscle contractions and abnormal postures when conservative treatment falls short
  • Tourette syndrome — considered in severe cases where behavioural and medication therapies are not enough
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) — evaluated in treatment-resistant cases after thorough psychiatric and neurological review
  • Medication-resistant epilepsy — an option for selected patients after comprehensive evaluation
  • Spasticity — for eligible patients, to reduce disabling muscle stiffness

Your Treatment Journey

  1. 01
Consultation & report review your diagnosis, imaging and symptom history are assessed
  2. 02
Medical pre-evaluation detailed history and an initial eligibility screening
  3. 03
Multidisciplinary assessment a short inpatient evaluation by neurology, neurosurgery, neuropsychology and psychiatry teams
  4. 04
Eligibility decision the team confirms whether DBS suits your diagnosis and stage
  5. 05
Surgical planning stereotactic MRI, electrode targeting and pre-operative clearance
  6. 06
DBS surgery electrode placement followed by pulse-generator implantation
  7. 07
Stimulation programming the device is activated and fine-tuned to your symptoms
  8. 08
Medication adjustment your treatment is re-balanced around the stimulation
  9. 09
Long-term follow-up ongoing programming and review to keep therapy optimal

Benefits You Can Expect

  • Reduced tremor, rigidity, slowness, involuntary movements and tics, depending on the diagnosis
  • Greater functional independence in daily life
  • Optimised or reduced medication, with fewer drug side effects
  • Stimulation that is adjustable and reversible, tailored over time to your needs

Coordinated, Lifelong Care

DBS works best as part of a carefully coordinated, long-term partnership. Candidacy is decided individually, weighing diagnosis, symptoms, response to medication, disease duration and overall health, and every plan brings together neurology, neurosurgery, neuropsychology and psychiatry perspectives. After surgery, stimulation programming and medication are refined over time, with remote support and regular reviews so therapy stays effective at every stage. DBS does not stop the underlying condition, but for suitable candidates it can meaningfully reduce symptoms and restore quality of life.
